ABOUT US
The Humanitarian Pilots Initiative (HPI) is a Swiss initiative of dedicated pilots who use their skills for humanitarian flight missions. We pioneer innovative ideas to use and develop civil aviation to help people in need.
HPI was founded in autumn of 2015 by a small team of friends and acquaintances who shared this common passion and goal. Since then, the foundation has expanded and currently has more than 20 individuals working with HPI. Our volunteer pilots have diverse backgrounds in airline flying, military operations, bush flying, and flight training.
We are guided by the basic humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence, and take into account the “do no harm” principle in our operations. HPI is a non-profit association which invests its funds directly into its operations. All pilots and other team members work on a purely voluntary and non-paid basis.
HPI is registered as a foundation in the Swiss commercial register.
